I would have to agree with you, Don. I also purchased a Rockler branding iron last year and have not been happy with it. I do, in fact, have to roll it around to get anywhere near consistent burn-in. I believe mine was like this when it was made, just slightly “off”. Your technique has to be just right to get it to look decent. It’s useable, but I’d prefer not to have to go through the above ritual every time I want to use it. (That is also the reason I obviously didn’t recommend the Rockler iron in my original posting.) I also wish it had a longer cord.
