Another thing to remember is many of these older tools don’t have seals to contain the oil you put in them, often only a piece of felt to act as a reservoir if anything at all. If you over oil it, there’s a good chance of that oil getting somewhere it shouldn’t, like on your project. BTW, that is a cool sander, any pics?
