I finally bought a good used table saw, and could not have made a better purchase without all of you guys helping me out. Now it's on to a used jointer!

Looking primarily on Craigslist, here's what appears to be a good machine, but seems overpriced?

What do you think?

Thanks!

I regularly see 6" Jet jointers on Craigslist for 500-600 here in central Ohio. I'd say $325 is a reasonable place to start negotiations. See what you can talk them down to. But if I was in a hurry to get a jointer and was tired of searching $325 seems pretty fair to me if it is clean as it looks.

I d take it at that price unless you want to save your money for an 8" model. Guessing that machine (enclosed base with dust collection) sold for $700+ new. Properly taken care of I think you ll get your money back.

Yeah, don't really want to wait. And, I was trying to figure out what it sold for new and you have answered that!

Old Craftsman 6" jointers should be available for around $150 - $200. I have one of those and have been happy with it. If I need anything bigger, I have access to a 20" Grizzly :)

Oh, I like that price range better, but don't see one in my area right now, but may give it a few days/week to see what happens. Thanks.

I haven't used a Delta 6", but I have used the Craftsman, though it's been twenty years. The Craftsman was a pain to set, compared to my current monster (8" with six foot bed).

From my Craftsman experience and from my Delta Unisaw experience, I'd go for the Delta. I think it'll turn out to be a little more machine.

Three twenty-five seems reasonable. After all, anything less is lowballing and you'll probably lose out. Too, that thing looks very lightly used or very well cared for.

No, unfortunately. It sure looked clean too! I've been too busy trying to get ready for a trade show at the end of this month. I did, however, have time to setup my new (used) table saw and I love it! I also set up my Kreg pocket hole jig to make poster frames with the oak shelving I salvaged, and I just might be able to get by without the jointer for a little while longer - i.e. - using my planer might do for now. I do have CL set up to notify me of jointer postings, so I'm sure I'll be back!

Okay, the plot thickens! When buying my used CMan table saw last week, the same guy said he was thinking of selling his jointer too. I said I may be interested and asked him to call me if he decides to sell. He called today. He has a 6" Delta JT-360 and said he would want $300. I didn't ask how old yet, but today he told me he has three sets of blades for it and just installed new blades on it (to sell it I guess?). Is it worth it?

I will say that the saw he sold me is in great shape and cuts real well, just like he said it would. He has a cabinet-making shop that would make most of you drool, so I'm sure it got its fair share of use, but he did demonstrate (IMHO) good knowledge of the saw and all its workings, and appears to be well-versed on his jointer too. I guess I'm trying to say that, while it may have been used a lot, he does appear to take good care of his tools. Your thoughts?

I have one and it works fine for my needs, I think I paid $150 for it a few years ago with a new set of knives which it dearly needed. The one complaint would be the pot metal lock levers that are not available as far as I could find, two are broken and had to fab/jerry rig an alternative.
