Coz: I think yours is sort of a commentary on the state of the economy. The downturn in the construction and home remodeling industry has caused a lot of dealers to cut inventory and reduce their stock. When the orders don’t come in from the dealers, the manufacturers stop or slow down manufacturing.

What they are doing is creating scarcity of goods.

Prices are going up. Four years ago, I paid $399.00 (including shipping) plus sales tax for a Jet JWTS-10 10-Inch WorkShop Table Saw. The same tool today is on ‘sale’ on Amazon.com for $855.00 (sales tax and shipping NOT included). In other words, in four years, the price on that tool has gone up 115%. And with recent decisions to devalue US currency, you can expect higher prices in the future as inflation increases.

Yesterday, I stopped at a local company that specializes in wood and metal-working machinery (this shop is the one that supplies the high school and tech school shops in our area, and have always been the ‘go-to-guys’ for my tool needs.

There was a time when they had all kinds of floor models both in the showroom and back the shop area. Yesterday, the only band saw they had on display was a Delta 14” ... the only table saw was one of the new SawStop 110v cabinet saws.
