Hmm, seems too complicated for what you are getting. You could get the same effect with hardwood edgebanding, attached with biscuits. Chamfer the edge, and miter he corners as in your example. Just skip the dados. I don’t like the idea of leaving such a thin lip on the edgebanding. It might be problematic to mill that odd shaped trim, because most of the stock supporting the workpiece will be removed during the router table or tablesaw operation.
