The downside of Maple is: It does not stain well and it does not glue well. Only certain glues will adhere to the wood fibers in Maple. Going to be a lot of work, but dowels or biskets might be your solution. MY michigan maple butcher block was built with dovetail joints on all sides of each strip of wood. It measures 30”l. x 30”w.x 16” deep. It’s not seperating.
