A change in the humidity from it’s original locale to yours would cause this. Just from one house to another in the same area would be enough.
My suggestion would be to let it set in your house for a few weeks, until it has fully acclimatized, then re-glue all the places where it has separated.

Edit: Glen beat me to the punch. I was going to suggest sawing it apart as a last resort, if it was something you felt was worth the trouble.
