Richard is right. Adding up the maximum prices on the things you are looking at; The Dewalt, and the Deluxe, you appear to be willing to spend in excess of $1400… For that price you could get: http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2080318/23755/Jet-12-PlanerJointer-Combo-Machine-Model-JJP12.aspx ... Its a 12in Jointer.. a 12in Planer(Think to yourself whether you will ever plane a board wider than 12”.) The good thing about a big jointer, is you can joint glueups… Or You could get http://www.grizzly.com/products/20-Planer/G0454 and just make a jig to joint boards on… then you can joint and plane upto 20”.. It all has downfalls and pros, but you nobody can tell you what you will do most. Maybe you get the lumber I get… p*ss poor quality stuff that is as straight as an arc… Or maybe you get good lumber, but you do glueups, so you need a razor sharp edge… The one thing about the combo machines, truth be told, is it takes a lot longer to set up… think of it as a bandsaw… A jig also takes a tad bit of time to setup. -- "Ah, So your not really a newbie, but a I betterbie." |
