I think richgreer has the right idea. I happen to have a Fein Turbo II that is quiet as a Festool, but I bought it before the currency weakness in the dollar. Today, these are still the best units, I believe, but currently suffer from a 30-40% premium merely because they are made in Europe. I have a hard time with that. I also have a Genie 10 gal unit that is so incredibly LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that it is unusable without shooting muffs. I am serious. You can buy a 2HP dust collector and some hoses for a lot less than either the Fein or Festool shop vac these days, and it will serve a lot more machines… and be quieter. Just my opinion. Go your own way, but LOUD is more than annoying. It is intolerable after a while.
