Auriou cabinet rasp problem

Got an Auriou 9 inch, 10 grain cabinet rasp because it's hand stitched and not supposed to follow the same grooves in the wood like machine-punched rasps, which is annoying as hell and can mess up your work. After using it for a few months, it's doing exactly what I thought it wasn't supposed to do - making grooves and staying in them. Not all the time but enough to bother me. When it doesn't do that it's awesome.

Maybe my technique is still poor. Anyone else have this problem?

You have the caddilac of rasps, and I'd love to have one. I think you may be going too light a touch with it and letting it dictate the direction. My rasp, a cheapy and I have to be real careful not to have it do that any more.

I also try to angle it to the piece and don't be shy on movement. If you take it to it, you will find that problem will go away.

ohh wait, i think its bad and I should take it off your hands. :)

No, can't say that I do. I'm not sure what your technique is, but you must be good to
get that type of repeatability with your Auriou!

I'm not up to speed on the grain demarcations, but I do know you want to use a finer rasp as you
get closer to your completing your details.
