Louie, Welcome to LJ’s. I read your profile and sounds lke you’ve had some good experience in the woodshop already. I really like the fact that you want to design this jewelry chest yourshelf. grizzman said it well…..Check out some of the jewelry boxes that the other LJ’ers have done or “Google” it and this should help you with some ideas. I got my start basically the same way, with designing a piece of furniture in High School and drawing up the plans in drafting class. I love designing my own pieces. (if they turn out great, I get to take all the credit….......and if it doesn’t, I know who to blame!) lol. You know your level of experience, so take all the ideas you like about different jewelry boxes and incorporate as many of those ideas as possible and don’t be afraid to push yourself to a new level or new experience in woodworking. I still try to learn something new in every project I do. Good luck and don’t be afraid to ask for help in any way. Everyone here is always willing to help.
