I may be wrong, but, I truly believe granite tops are a passing fad. I see no real benefit. Proponents will say the granite is flatter but how much flatter do you need. A quality cast iron top is going to be flat enough for any projects you would want to do. Maybe the manufacturers offering the granite aren’t capable of making a quality cast iron top? I’ll bet the granite is cheaper.
