Said stowage of that flag possibly reflects the leanings of the people doing the folding, but I don't know that for certain. European Neo-Nazis are not allowed to use the swastika flag, so they use the Confederate battle flag instead. That says it all, for me.

I agree totally, that should have shamed them into lowering it years ago.

How about Stone Mountain?

If "things" existed before the war it is ok by me, if it was created after the war to glorify the losers then it is rebal crap and should be relegated to a museum of embarrassing crap. That huge carving could be converted to MLK or something more appropriate than people fighting for slavery or the right for their state to have slaves.

EDIT:

"Things" does not include slavery, of course.

You folks really have no understanding of what the Confederate War was all about. Need to study on your History before posting false info. That is the issue in this country now.

Slavery comes to mind as the reason for the civil war. Is that not correct in the current mythos?

No. Just talking about your whining. thats the problem with America today. No one can get past anything.

Why don't we just go ahead a kill ourselves because we damn near wiped out the Indians. Let's give their land back while we're at it.

Wah. Wah. Wah. Bleeding hearts.

I was suggesting the flag be stomped on. That is a bleeding heart?

Reductio ad absurdum much?

The strangest thing to me is those flags were trotted out to protest civil rights legislature.
It seems to me the offences that happen during one's life are eligible for criticism.

No offence but they lost. Are you ok with Mexicans flying the Mexican flag in Texas?

I don't think the civil war was fought entirely over slavery, in fact Maryland stayed in the union but still had slavery.

As far as the rebel flag that everyone recognizes goes that flag was somewhat obscure until the civil rights movement in the 1960s and was only trotted out as a big FU to the federal government, civil rights activists, and blacks in general.

There are truly people that believe the flag is part of their heritage and not hate. but there are also those people who claim that but are simply passively-aggressively saying FU to others in the population. It is a complicated issue and not so black and white as many want to believe or to have you believe. If those that want to use the flag to display their heritage had taken a stand against those that used it as a symbol of hate then we may not be having this conversation.

There are also people that want to display the flag to show they are a proud *********************************** the same way they display the git-r-done sticker on the back of their truck window. Like I said a complicated issue that has no one answer.
