hey,hokiemojo; might as well throw in my two cents
old sheet rock needs to be sealed preferably with oil base primer. this also seals the new mud ,giving your satin or semi gloss paint to stick and bond . if its asmall garage by the time put tools and your nice cabinet tool holders threr won’t be
much reflection except from the ceiling.
why leave the nail dimpples showing? two coats with a 6” knife and lightly sand with 220, then paint.
your trying to elevate your work enviorment,right? also i would roll the paint. no more than 40 minutes each coat,
you need a stud finder for $20.00 to find the studs for french cleats, or any thing you want to hang latter
shoot for the moon,it’s only time and money!
