Boy, did I get a good deal off of Craigslist today! The coveted Stanley No.45. It is in great condition and I only paid $100! I'm pretty confident that's a good deal, right?
Both the original box of cutters and original instructions were included.
I plan on cleaning up some of the small rusted areas and the corrosion. I might post a blog on the restoration and tune-up.
For a plane complete with cutters in that good of shape that's a good deal. Cutters are marked sweethearts, is there a sweetheart on the body or fence?
I think you got a good deal, but not a ridiculous steal (unless it's a really early model). I got one in comparable shape to that from Ebay a year ago for $75 (plus shipping). In the time I was looking I saw several go for $100 ish, and some go for a bit more. Then there were the buy-it-nows for way more money, but I never saw them sell…
I thought it looked like a newer one, but still. It's in great shape, have fun with it.
