I ran across an ad for this woodmaster 718. The seller is asking $2750 and apparently it has the sander and rip saw attachments, which i feel is way too much. I was wondering what your thoughts were on the going rate for these things? I know you can get a new one for $2999, add in another $700 for the pro pack. I am thinking 1500-2000 is a reasonable price, but I just don't see too many of these for sale to know what they go for.
There was one not far from me last year (without the extras) and the guy wanted $1200. This guy's price is way out of reason (IMHO). I think your estimate is much closer to reality.
I use a rule of thumb of 50-75% of the cost of new for used tools. The condition dictates which end of the range. Based on the pic, I would probably offer $2000 and go up to $2200 if I necessary. You always have to be prepared to walk and see if the seller calls you back.
Thanks for the input. It confirms my suspicions that it was a bit high. I'm debating whether I should even make an offer, for fear that I will just insult the seller, since we will be so far apart on price.
