I have two Makita 18 volt li-ion drills, they are the best drill I have ever used. They keep their charge a long time, have no shortage of torque and they recharge in about 15 mins. They are also lighter than their ni cad cousins. If I were you I would go with a Li-Ion battery, they cost a bit more but I don’t think you will regret it. I know I will never go back to Ni Cad.
