Chris; The Jitterbug was origionally made by National Detroit, or Huchens, I believe. They were origionally used for auto body work. They were able to use 8 by 11 in. paper and one sheet was torn into three sheets. I have used origionals, and they use a lot of air, and remove a lot of material, depending on the grit of paper used. They are fixed orbital, instead of random orbital, which means that the pad was held by rubber feet so they did not turn. The tool will last many years. most important is how large of an orbit it takes. They will show that orbital motion as small circles on the wood. Is He planning on using it on wood, He may mean a random orbital. chech with auto stores, and your Dad before You buy
