aha. I just got back from my neighbor’s house and her stool has that set up. Of course, if you drill a half inch hole in the bottom seat, there is plenty of space to fasten the screws to the underneath the seat top. I just was not willing to have screws (it would have been a bolts) coming out of the seat bottom. Why doesn’t Rockler use the hole approach? I makes more sense and it doesn’t detract from the look of the seat. Problem solved. Thanks for the replies. Pictures will be coming….....
