My house is heated with electric baseboard heaters, I want to build a wall of bookshelves but am not quite sure what to do about the heaters.
Can I make the base of the bookshelf a little wider then "normal" and mount the baseboard heaters to the front?
Sure you can. My only concern would be the contents of the bookshelf getting more heat than they would like. Further it will require rewiring the baseboard heaters or at least splicing in additional wire.
Yes. But code says you aren't supposed to have a junction box buried where you can't access it so you might have to leave the bottom shelf loose so it can removed easily or a longer piece of wire from the line side installed from the panel.
You can also get base board heaters with lower density elements.
Reduces the heat output but sometimes solves problems with heat sensitivity of adjacent materials.
