Good news on my Broken Ankle

Went to the doctor yesterday. Took the splint and dressings off, removed the stitches and took a couple x-rays. Was well pleased with the looks of the incision. could not hardly see it. Said the bone is healing very well, but no pressure on it for another 4 weeks. May let me start driving after my next checkup in 3 weeks.

Did not really realize that I had actually broken the small bone in my leg too. That is the reason for the plate and 8 screws. Tied the bone and my ankle all back together again. Luckily no cast. Just a big heavy boot. Can take it off a couple times a day to start moving my ankle and loosening up the muscles. Bad thing is that I have to sleep with it and that in itself is very uncomfortable.

Doc told me that it may take a month after I start putting pressure on the leg before I am able to work a full day on my feet. Talked with my supervisor at work today and they agreed that I might have to work halfdays for a couple of weeks when I do get back to work. So that in itself is good news too.

Wishing all my Lumberjock Buddies have a HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.

Good for you Jerry, that is fantastic news. :) Aren't those 'capture boots' really something? Did they give you the full one or the ankle height one? Ask him next time if you can go to the ankle high one, they are much more manageable and you don't have to cut your pants to wear them! :)

Good way to start the New Year! Happy New Year!

great news , jerry .

it is nice they used screws and a flat plate ,

and not some clamps to hold it all together !

.
at least you can roll over in bed !

Padre, the boot is full length due to the leg fracture too. I've been wearing sweat pants so no problem getting them off and on over the boot. As for pants, I guess I'll put them on first and put the boot back on over the pants when the time comes….......................LOL

David, I can't imagine the clamps…................LOL

Definetely not rushing it.

We're glad to hear that you're coming along great with the healing process.

Four weeks should go by pretty fast. Look how fast 2009 went.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year, Hope you and yours have a happy and safe one, Don't push it, take it easy and don't try and rush it, that's what I've done all my life and believe me I'm paying for it now. My thoughts are If your going to abuse your body do it with beer and sex, more fun and don't hurt while your doing it. WEEEELLLL unless your into that sort of thing L.O.L. Hopes for a speedy recovery and a better 2010, has to be better than this last year. Take care.

Great news, Jerry. Hope you are up and around and as good as new, real soon!

Hey Dave. Don't let those guys get to you. As a former medical professional (nursing home janitor) I concur with your advice.

PS I'm still available for consults.

Glad to hear you are getting better. I had to wear one of those boots and that was worst than the break itself. Threw my back out of wack and made my shin sore as hell. Maybe you won't have that problem, but I sure did. Because it was a bone in my foot and not in my ankle, I did not have to wear it too long, thank God!

Think of all the money you could have saved if you had Dr. Patron fix you up. With his method you heal because you cannot move any where till the clamps come off! Get well soon!

God Bless

My oldest Son had to have ankle surgery in 1966, when he was 14 years old.

He had broken his ankle in the growth area when he was aged 9.

He had to have both bones in his ankle severed,

& had to have a bone graft to straighten it out.

He had to wear a cast like this one for 12 weeks.
