You got a fantastic deal!

I have the 3660, which is basically identical. I get a little twitch when the saw starts up. Pretty normal for a contractor-style saw I think.

As for blade, you can definitely go with a full kerf blade if you want. As a matter of fact, I don’t know if you had this problem, but some of those saws (including mine) were shipped with an ultra-thin kerf blade that was so thin the piece you were ripping would hang up on the splitter. I thought I had put something together wrong until I figured out what was going on.

My switch is mounted on the right. As far as I know, the main rule of thumb for placing the switch is that you can reach it easily based on where you usually stand when you are cutting.
