I just finished a bit of sanding. There were some parts that needed flipping and exchanging. I was getting frustrated with the age old problem of waiting for the sander to totally stop before putting it down on the bench. I had seen the LJ discussion of using a plastic top of a coffee can. This works ok, and I keep two of them on the bench. But I always end up with putting other small things in them and using them as parts trays. (This is ok in its own right.)
But I just came up with a neat solution. Take another ROS disk, turn it upside down and use it for a landing pad. It could be a used pad or a new one. The hook and loop side is real soft and will not damage the bench top, while the sandpaper side grabs onto the sander. Whenever I am sanding, there are always spare disks nearby.
I don't know. Give it a try.
