What does everyone do with plywood scraps? Is there any use for these? I'm talking about pieces that are too small for any project use, or even for test cuts.
I use solid wood scraps for kindling, but I don't think burning plywood is a good idea because of the glue and other chemicals involved.
I use them for clamping blocks, Temp supports for cabinets at the corners to keep cabinet elevated 1/2" or so, shims. I keep a trash can that I put all my scrap plywood in and when it gets full I throw some of them out.
Hey-- when all else fails, and you run out of things to build with the scraps, you can always go outside and build a fire and burn them that way. Makes a good bon fire. Even roast a wenner!!!
I do the same as Gary and Rick, my uncle will burn almost anything in his wood stove (who am I to judge lol) and a night at the beach with a few friends and a few more beverages is always a good time, I am always getting asked "you have any scraps to bring up to burn?" maybe thats the only reason I'm invited to the beach for a fire anymore lol.
I keep all my scraps and find a number of uses for them - particularly around the drill press as backers to prevent tear out. I am not sure what all else I use them for but they do not pile up and do get used.
Keep them in a 45 gallon can when it gets cold outside I burn them in a barrel. I'll keep some stuff for test cuts, etc, but I've started throwing away 95% of it now.
