Until I bought a jack plane at Green Dragon in Lancaster, PA for $10, I would constantly scan the pages of Craigslist for routers, and collected a few of those guys. Now my tool impulse has switched to planes, and it seems many of you have a similar compulsion or "bug" to buy certain tools as well.
So, out of general interest, what's the one thing you can buy 10 of and justify, even when other people think you're nuts?
Wow, its very comforting to see I'm not the only one with this compulsion. I seem to be "collecting" everything. I have 6 routers, 9 levels, 5 sliding bevels, about a dozen planes and several of the clamping straightedges….and my garage isn't even finished yet!! I think it might be because these are relatively inexpensive items. If I am at a garage/estate sale and I see tools for $5, $10, or even $25, I always hear myself saying "hmmm, that's too good a deal to pass up", even if I don't know how to use it yet
But very few people think you can have too many of those.
