I have been asked to clean and finish a bunch of outdoor teak table tops for a restaurant. They were never finished and after a couple of months of being here in Mississippi have stains and mold and mildew on them. Who would have guessed that, right? (sarcasm)
Anyone have any recommendations for cleaning and finishing these tops? Definitely want something that will be durable and hold up in a restaurant setting.
I would clean with a little bleach and then pressure wash them. After giving them plenty of time to dry, use teak oil and keep applying thin coats until the wood doesn't suck it up immediately. I used this method for the swim platform on my boat and as long as it wasn't allowed to get funky, all that was needed was to let it dry completely then a couple coats. This only had to be done once a year and worked well enough the platform needed no additional maintenance.
David, an outdoor finish is going to require relative care and refurb.
I'm in Tupelo, and can verify my statement.
Don't get yourself into a warranty position for any exterior finish.
