I called it cabinet only because it is enclosed. Most definitely not a cabine sawt. So I will assume I tightened the screw too much. Assume that the motor provides the resistance by its own weight. (Quietly wish I could delete this thread.) And go slap a wrench on that saw. And you, good sir, are a gent for putting up with morons. My excuse…I only worked on old powermatic saws and never had to touch a belt on one.
