I messed something up. d:^\

Alright grizzman, I'll share something with everyone just for you. This is something I'm making out of nothing. Just some 1/2" natural bamboo and some wenge. I matched all the grain up the sides and over the top but the mess up was that when the grain crossed the top it doesn't match from triangle to triangle. I was having a hell of a time getting my cuts square and at a true 45. I started looking over my cheap ass ridgid TS3650 and found that when I try to adjust it to a 90 degree (0) that it was literally spreading the cabinet apart, bending the side, instead of straightening the blade. WTF? I still can't get it to 0.
Here is a view of the cabinet side getting pushed out by the rod

As you can see it won't go to zero

and here is a view that shows that it can still tilt more, it just wont.

The saw isn't that old so I am going to look at it a little more thorough and if I can't see something blocking it I believe I'll have to seek out a replacement. It's a ridgid so it's guarenteed for life as far as I know. I sent off the proper paperwork on this tool. Normally I don't. I wish I did for my drill as the batteries have lost their strength and one of them shows that it has an error or whatever.

Anyhow, this is another problem. I am using cheap quadrant hinges and it seems that the brace that keeps it from flopping over isn't removeable, so how the hell can I get to the back screws? I tried and tried to get the stops out and they are pretty much in there, unless I'm truly an idiot, which is entirely possible. This is the first time using these hinges.

So we finally get to the project. Here it is as of today. I am not done as I have a desire to add marquetry, need to figure out the hinges, and I am planning on buying a lock. Other then all the bull crap problems the box is looking fairly nice. I was going to inlay a skateboard and give it to a friend, but I hate giving away things that aren't done properly. As always I welcome constructive criticism, positive or negative. I will post this in the projects section once it's complete because obviously not very many people will see it here.

I have a small tool that would work perfectly for putting in those screws. It is a supe small 90 degree ratcheting driver. The whole thing is about 3" long, flat, and the loose bit slides in and can get into spaces a little less than an inch.

I have long since lost the label to the package that holds it but there is a tool out there that will resolve your problem. I seem to recall it only cost a couple of bucks as well, nothing costly at all.

Beautiful piece Kol. Thanks for sharing your "something" with us.

I couldn't save the drama for my mama! LOL. Just thought it was interesting to be short with everyone. The "I want to make something" thing went a little further then I thought. I really was just bummed that I didn't have anything to make. Then I decided "screw it" I'm making something. So I thought I'd let you know that I was and everyone seemed to get curious. It just went from there. Kind of fun really. No suspence, just a box with few words.
Now maybe I can get my saw fixed and make nothing instead of something.
