What about using some giant rubber bands to return the drawers to their closed position?

Seriously, tho’ Jim’s comments are excellent. One thing I would add, though, is that if you can find a cabinet saw – new or used – you’ll end up with much better, straighter, cleaner joints. Only trouble, tho’ is the cost.

Best of luck wood working. I hope that you have a high tolerance for frustration, as we are all prone to make mistakes from time to time.
