I’ve enjoyed and have been inspired by all the various Grease Boxes and I’ve got a few ideas in the future. I was first inspired by Roy’s, and I started one based on his design, but alas, it sits unfinished ‘somewhere’ in the workshop. One day I’ll finish it, when I find it.

1) In the theme of trying to come up with something different, and 2) trying to find a use for some of the scraps I have lying around all over the place, here is my entry. The wood is an offcut of some Ash stair treads a ww buddy of mine gave me. My plans were to make the dovetail slide from something contrasting, but I cut up some Pine to use for the building process and just havn’t got around to making the nice one yet. Finish is a 5 minute dunk in Danish Oil, which I’m not impressed with on the Ash. It is not officially finished yet since I havn’t found a screw to go into the top, hence a Blog rather than a finished Project.

The offcut after routing the dovetails (ww rule #2, never make just one of anything):

After drilling the holes and then slicing off the tops:

Hey, since I have no grease to put in it, I could call it a Ring Box. :) I’d have to cover up that dimple from the forstner bit though.

So please consider this my megar entry application to the Grease Box Owner’s Club. My first, but not my last. Well Mafe, do I get to join? :)

Thanks Dennis. :) This box is just one example of a screw I’m missing. I started out with several loose screws. Once I finish it, then I can add it to my project page.
