I retired in 2011 after many years of retail hardware store ownership and the last 18 years working for Hillman Fastener. Fortunately, I live within an hour drive of a large hardware store and lumber yard. They both provide an endless supply of tools and supplies, while the lumber store offers an unbelievable supply of exotic lumber. The other positive asset to living in Wooster, the endless number of Amish woodworking shops, close to 1500. These shops allow me to dumpster dive for cherry, quarter sawn oak, maple and other woods. Their throw aways are my basic inventory.
Woodworking satisfaction was instilled early while doing projects together with my father. I have built many projects for the family, but now the houses are are filled, and nothing more is needed. Therefore, I now fabricate cutting/serving boards and bookmarks. The segmented woodturners feature band is something I am utilizing as a feature strip in the boards. There are endless patterns to examine and determine how best to construct for a cutting/serving board.
