My daughter and son-in-law wanted a kitchen table they could eat at, prep food at and serve from when serving buffet-style. The end result was a portable table with casters, butcher block top and two drawers for storage. It’s solid hard maple except for the drawer bottoms. To save time I bought the top pre-made and altered it to fit. Rather than pay for a custom top I bought three small tops in stock sizes and glued them together. I reinforced the glued joints with under-mount counter bolts. The finish is butcher block oil for the top and polycrylic for the base and drawers. I completed the project by building four stools to match. I couldn’t rotate the last photo, sorry.

This table looks great. I’m sure they will love it, except when they have to move, it looks very heavy. Of course, that and the joinery used will guarantee that their grandchildren will be using it.
