This is a box I made for my wife for our anniversary. Her maiden name is Redwine, so she really likes a grapevine motif. I saw this pattern in a book and had to make it for her!
The box is made from poplar, with the box and tops resawn to 1/4.” the grapes are 1/2” wood balls from a craft store that I cut in half using a quick jig and painted using craft paint from Walmart. The leaves and vines are scrap 1/8” molding left over from a project earlier this summer. In fact, I have been so busy making stuff that I have not had the energy to post any projects. It is finished with brushed shellac.
Stand by for more posts soon….
God Bless,
Hawg

That’s real cute! I like the grape application on the top. They almost look clear like acrylic. Nice carving on the leaves.

Thanks, Chico. I almost used acrylic because the closest craft shop was around 100 miles away. This was my first attempt at 3-d scroll sawing.

Awesome box, great craftsmanship… I really like how the box opens up to the shape of the leaf… cool.
