I just finished six of these I made one each that hold 5, 6 (X2), 7, 8, & 9 key rings. They are all scrap barn wood, pallets, and left over crown moulding. Each is hung using 3/8” keyhole slots. It started as a request that got out of hand. I made one for a customer, one for me, and have four left over. The keys hang using 1/2” rare earth magnets spaced at 2” on center. It was a good use of scraps, I think.

is it strictly for keys or is there a shelf on top? if there is a shelf, did you put any kind of protectant from the magnets to other materials such as credit cards?

I did not put any type of protection between the shelf and the magnets. I keep my wallet on mine and all is still well with my cards. I probably won’t keep it up there any more, though. The though never occurred to me.
