Walnut/Maple Coffee Table

This coffee table was completed before Christmas as part of first semesters school project. The design seems simple enough but there were challenges to overcome and various types of joinery. All sheet good parts were hand selected and pressed by myself. Doing projects with different contrasts of wood is one of my favourite, especially walnut and maple. Once again, the drawer boxes were constructed on the CNC dovetailer which did a great job. Lastly I purchased some oak handles from Lee Valley and sap stained them to match the walnut as walnut knobs and handles are hard to come by unless you are custom making them. The colour match I achieved was very close and convincing to most people. Enjoy the pictures and please feel free to comment or ask questions! Thanks.

That’s a beautiful project. I will continue to try to develop skills necessary to do this type of quality work.

Very nice work Connor.
I too am a fan of contrasting woods. Wish my wife agreed…

Hey Conner, first things first, welcome to LJ’s and I hope your experiences here are as wonderful as they have been for me! Your coffee table looks like a solid design and I agree with your choice of wood combos. Thanks for sharing and hope to see future offerings of the same quality !

Nice design and excellent construction. Maple and walnut always make for a good contrast.

Really beautiful work.

I like the chamfered edges on the top, and I like the way you combined mortise & tenon with pocket hole joinery for the leg/apron joints.
