Made these three ice cream scoops with some on sale scoop kits from Wood Craft. Made them while I was doing some lathe work for a tent sale at Grizzly’s as one of there demonstrator’s. So I got paid to make my own stuff! How great is that?
The first scoop is made out of Red, White, and Blue Colorwood. It made some funky looking shaped in color on the finger gripped handle, my favorite.
Second was made from some Blue and Black Colorwood with the ends painted black. My next door neighbor was on site to watch me turn wood and she took this one for herself.
Third was a wormy white oak scrap piece, turned a few beads on it and painted them black, and BAM! A neat scoop.
These scoops are sharp and heavy duty, and having eaten much ice cream from them I can fully recommend them for you wood turners. Easy to do. Easy to sell if you ever get one to sell, most of them. All of these were gone in a day or two.
All were finished in spray on conversion varnish, 3 coats, makes them so nice and durable. The scoop screws into the wood and can be removed if needed. A lot of fun and thrills in doing them. Thanks for looking!
