Cherry bath vanity

I built this vanity as a commission for a long time family friend. It is made of mostly locally sourced Florida cherry and cherry ply. This piece kind of evolved as I went along, dictating changes as it went along. I tried something new with the finish, I had read online that using lye on cherry would kick start the natural aging process and produce a very old looking cherry finish. As you can see in the 5th picture the change was pretty dramatic and it was almost instantaneous. I did blog the process here with more pictures of the build if you are interested. As always enjoy and leave comments if you feel so compelled.

That looks really nice. It looks like it will be very functional also. I might steal some design ideas from it.

Its a great accomplishment. I really like the lines and shape of the piece.

Great tip on aging cherry, as I never heard that before.
