I was going to say walnut, but I don’t think it is that easy, so I will just say it is beautyful.

I don’t know what kind of wood it is. The wood has such a wild grain pattern that it is hard to see the beautiful dovetail joints.

This is a beautiful box. I love the way you wrapped the annual growth ring pattern. Looks somewhat like sicamore to me with a tinted oil stain.

As stated earlier its Elm, but don’t really understand what the comments , breakfast, and eggs over easy are about ? is this an American saying when you guess correctly?

I’m now pretty certain it could be elm (grin). As I’m in the UK, did you mention breakfast?
Seriously though, That a beautiful box that just doesn’t need any frills. The wood says it all.

My guess would have been air dried walnut , but if you say it’s Elm , so be it : )
