Hello, First off thanks to Lumber Jocks Andy & HybridWoodworker for ideas & inspiration for this project, of course I combined a few of my own thoughts to the project. This is for my Grandson Jack’s 7th birthday. He likes rocks, collecting & Grandpa Jack’s Art Boxes so this fits the bill pretty well. The box is made from Purple Heart & Hard Maple, with a polished piece of Brazilian Quartz inlaid in the lift off lid which also functions as the handle. The measurements are 12×7 and 3 3/4 in tall. Finished with Deft rattle can satin lacquer & rubbed down with steel wool. The last photo is Grandpa Jack with little Jack & the only thing he asked me for, for his birthday, a “wind up” tape measure?? He has always liked Grandpa’s tools especially tape measures. Thanks for looking…................................Grandpa Jack Stay tuned Grandson Sam’s birthday is next week.

This looks sooo nice, how do you make boxes like this? What tools do you need?

Amazing GrandPa nice job wondering your secret? Do you start with a square box and carve the waves into it?
