I had this wood sitting in my shop since around 1990. I finally had some time to make a cane. I am glad I peeled the bark off when it was still green back then. When our kids were little I was building a small cabin in the mountains of western Pa. nights while sitting around the camp fire I peeled the bark. It seemed like it took forever. I have enough wood to make 3 more canes… Maybe next winter.

Wonderful cane! The wood is gorgeous with those grains and figures.

That’s a beautiful cane and quite a conversation piece.
