This was a fun project. A local store owner called me, knowing I was a woodworker and said she had some damaged headboards, foot boards and bed rails. Different sizes etc. This Porch Bench was made from a queen sized head board and a full sized foot board. Took them apart and fixed the damaged areas and added wood for strength.

Then I made a deal with the client who purchased it. Since a lot of clients want different colors etc for the projects I told her she could come to the shop and painted it herself. She was onboard and she and her husband came over and we had great conversation while she painted her bench!

Pic 1: finished painted bench.
Pic 2: fitting the seat boards (made from rails that were already stained).
Pic 3: My boss sitting with the couple who purchased the bench!

The bench looks great. It wonderful that you found a new use for those damaged head boards and foot boards.

Scotsman, no…. tho it could fit in a country kitchen. But the couple that bought it put it in their porch. They have a nice surround in the porch so they spend evenings there. It will get great use for years to come!

Great looking bench, like the use of old reclaimed woods. Great build and paint work, it will last for many more years to be enjoyed.

Have your say...
