This vase is maple and purpleheart, consists of ten rings and a total of 398 smaller pieces. Stylistically the design hopefully reflects southwestern Indian pottery. A big thanks goes out to my friend and teacher Jim Glynn who helped me solve problems throughout the several weeks needed to complete it.

Building the feature ring was the most challenging part as it required close tolerances when cutting, shaping, and turning the individual segments, the more complex of which each contain 27 small pieces.
and I relied on the Incra mitre guage for the essential precise 15 degree cuts. its a good piece of equipment.

thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of this piece but am ready for a break and will return to simpler projects next week. hope you like

I appreciate the time and skill it took to make this turning and it is very cool looking.

Lovely vase! Attractive wood mix and pattern, like the shape. It looks great inside and out. Great job!

Have your say...
