Harbor Freight has some great buys if you shop carefully and these portable storage bins are no exception. This case feature removable bins that allow you to take the fasteners to the work area without needing to tote the entire thing. Unlike some of the other “store brand” cases out there, the lid seems to connect closely to the bins so that all but the smallest parts should be prevented from “contaminating” into adjacent bins. When these are on sale for around $8, they’re a steal but I managed to find a coupon for $5.99 so I grabbed 4 more to go with the one I already had.

A week has passed since building it and aside from general relocation of tools in the shop, this has been one of the best organization things I’ve done to make life easier.

Well, I took your idea and ran with it Jeff. (they say this is the greatest form of flattery)

This is what I came up with. Got the portable storage cases on sale for $7.99.

My shelving collapsed and so, when I rebuilt them, I remembered your design.

But, I thought that it would be too much weight on the one shelf if I had all eight of them full of nuts and bolts. So, I scattered them across the bottom of the new shelves.

Worked out great because they are all at eye level.

But, the credit goes to you because it was your initial design that gave me the idea. Thanks for sharing.

Looks great timbertailor and thanks for sharing! Don’t forget to you can label the boxes to keep everything straight.

That’s the reason I posted my projects – to inspire someone else to build something. Look around in our shops, just about everything there someone else has already done. Whether we consciously (or not) choose to design something after another person’s work, it still happens.

Have your say...
