This is the other box I built alongside of the ZEN box .
I tried my hand at a art deco design something I have never done before and I think I like it and it will likely lead to another one .

It is the same basic box but with a totally different look .
Rebate corners with interior corner blocks which serve as reinforcement for the corner joint and also as a support for the tray .Leather hinges in mahogany and a centre overlay in mahogany and Douglas fir .
All edges are done in 3/16” mahogany and eased over just slightly .
Made from cherry, mahogany, Douglas fir, lace wood and walnut .
Size is 11” X6 1/2” X 3 3/4”
The interior is lined with a beige upholstery cloth with a lace wood lift handle in tray .
The finish is BLO and bees wax for a nice satin and mellow look .

That is very nice! Looks like a safe almost, but with style!

Looks great from any angle. I particularly like the treatment of the back. Nicely done.

I have to agree with Willy, it has a safe or cash box look. For some reason I like the back better than the front. You sure have a knack for the interior. Nice work Kiefer.

As always Kiefer….great detail and design. I particularly like the treatment of the hinges and the appearance you have derived on the back of the box.

You are exploding! Not much Art Deco on LJ’s You continue to think outside the box. Paul said on your ZEN Box. “Hard to come up with new”, and appropriate, expletives to describe the visual candy!
