Wife and I have iPads and kids got them for Christmas. There were iPads and cords everywhere bedrooms, bathroom and next to the couch. I wanted a stand or charging station centrally located and add a little protection. I looked for awhile and couldn’t find anything that I liked so I made my own design and built it with just scraps laying around. Now I can control usage and we never hear “Where’s my iPad?” or “Dad can I use yours mines dead”.
I cut the grooves for the dividers on the table saw and then realized that looked like crap so I filled in the slots with wood putty to cover the gaps and made it look better. Next time I’ll use the router. Found some quarter round and finished the bottom. Used some leftover black paint and its done. Sorry no nice pretty dovetail joinery, just glue and air nails. The slanted part can hold a phone to charge also or small calendar. Back view shows all the cords plugged into power strip. I used binder clips to hold wires to the respected slots.
