A friend of mine gave me this piece of live edge that he’d recently cut. With just a little sanding and staining I had a finished shelf. I mounted the shelf on three lag screws that I ran into the studs and then drilled three corresponding holes in the shelf and it slid right up to the wall.

Nice. I have some live edge Oak with the bark on and it has done well over the years.
