A long lapdesk out of hand-planed cherry (from my dad’s yard). The pillows are held by magnets and are removable. The finish is BLO and wax.

Nice work. Clever idea of using magnets with the pillows. I enjoyed seeing the last photo from rough to smooth.

Just ran across this. how did you attach the magnets to the pillows? Also, what did you end up with for the depth of the desk?

Actually, the pillows just have a washer attached with epoxy and 4 stiches. The depth is about 11” give or take.
