This butcher block bar top is 8’ x 20” with alternating hard maple stripes running the length of the bar. I made this for a friend this past winter and he as since painted the room to match the maple stripes. I used my fathers old Stanley doweling jig, since I don’t have a biscuit jointer (I have to get one!). I put a 1/4” dowel every 12, inches and destroyed two 1/4” brad point bits in the process. But, overall I was very satisfied with the results!

Thanks for looking!

I like it. It kind of has a cool surf/skateboard vibe to it to my eyes.

Thanks,
The walnut is cut into 1 1/4” strips and then glued back together with dowels to reveal the edge grain. I had to glue sections together so it would fit in my 13” planer. Total of 3 sections were build and then glued together. The dowels helped to keep everything lined up and flat.

Thanks

Beautiful work. When you friend repainted his walls it really helped to tie in the bar top, the slate floors and the walls.

Beautiful work. But I want to know, how do you open that door with the corner table in the way? ;) If you didn’t see this, you aren’t looking close enough. ;)

Gorgeous bar top! Attractive wood combo and like the stripes. Great job!
