Bench seat refinished

Let me first apologize for the positions of the two pictures. No matter how many times I loaded them, they would not position correctly.
My neighbor has a bench seat that was really weather beaten. She asked my wife if I could attempt to refinish the bench if she bought the Spa Varnish. So I took nearly a week to wear out my belt sander to get down to wood that was suitable to refinish. Flat black on the metal. Golden oak stain on the wood with 5 coats of Spa Varnish. Finished product looked better than the original. I have not asked about the two chairs that go with this set, but included one of them to give you an idea of the condition of the wood. The bench slats did not have the cracks seen in the example but was otherwise equal in its poor condition. It was not a very fun project, but it was appreciated.

Don, have you tried first saving the photos to your computer’s Hard drive in a folder, then uploading to LJ’s?

Funny we have the same bench the mrs. wants me to fix up. I just figured I’d make new slats…
Nice job though.

Blackie: Yes, I went from the phone to the photo program in the computer to LJ. And no problem loading them into Facebook for my daughter to see. First time I’ve had that problem with LJ.

Artagain: I wanted new seat slats also, but it wasn’t my money.

Nice job! Looks much more inviting to sit on.

As far as the pictures, I ran into the same issues. However, I upload/host them on photobucket instead of my dropbox account, the are oriented the correct way. Food for thought.
