This project is going to be a mother’s day present this year. My mom saw something similar that she liked in a magazine so I decided I would surprise her. I found the iron fence piece and shutter that I used to make the frame at a local salvage place near my house. I took the shutter apart and used the outside part of the shutter as the frame and then the slats of the shutter were used at the bottom to give it a panel look. The fence is held in place by resting on the ridges of the shutter frame, and holes drilled into the bottom piece of wood. I used pocket holes to screw everything together.

What am I missing? What is it and what will she do with it? The construction is interesting and I can see the work you put in it but I just can’t figure it out. Please, no offence but what is it?
You gotta make allowances for someone old like me.

Wranger- It is a decorative piece, my mom saw something similar in a magazine and liked it so I built her one for 24 bucks instead of her spending the 125 they wanted in the magazine. In the magazine it was hung on the wall…. it could just as easily be set on the floor in a corner of the room, hung outside on the garage wall, or used in a varitey of different ways as a decorative piece. Hope this helps you visualize its use.

Have your say...
